Founded in the early Imperial calendar around 977 IC, Bretonnia was established by King Gilles le Breton and his companions after being blessed by the Lady of the Lake, unifying the warring tribes against Greenskins and other threats. Over centuries, it evolved into a nation where martial prowess is equated with divine favor. The Knights believe they are the chosen protectors of humanity, tasked with upholding justice through the sword and enforcing the laws of chivalry upon all who enter their borders. The Lady worshipped by the faithful is a benevolent figure, and there is no canonical revelation of corruption or malevolence. Despite this, the Knights remain formidable warriors, clad in shining plate armor and riding destriers across the green fields. They fight tirelessly against the Vampire Counts to reclaim lost lands and repel Chaos hordes from the north, serving as a critical buffer for the rest of the continent.
