Lizardmen

Ancient reptilian guardians awakening to enforce the Old Ones' Great Plan.

The Lizardmen are an ancient reptilian race created by the mysterious Old Ones before the rise of humanity and Chaos. They serve as the architects and guardians of the Great Plan, a cosmic design intended to maintain balance across the world. Though largely dormant for millennia, they have begun to awaken from their hidden temples in response to growing threats. Primarily dwelling within the dense jungles of Lustria, these beings view themselves as shepherds of destiny rather than conquerors. Their society is rigid and purposeful, dedicated solely to fulfilling the will of their creators. While they often clash with humans and other races, their true enemy remains the corrupting influence of Chaos that threatens to unravel existence itself.

Lore & Background

Created eons ago by the Old Ones, the Lizardmen were designed to guide lesser races and protect the world from the encroaching darkness of Chaos. For thousands of years, they ruled the earth with an iron grip, establishing a civilization far more advanced than anything humanity would later achieve. However, as humans proved susceptible to corruption and the forces of Chaos grew stronger, the Lizardmen withdrew into their temples to sleep, waiting for a time when the world could be saved. At the head of this society stand the Slann Mage-Priests, immortal beings who channel raw magic directly from the Old Ones' legacy. They are the architects of the Great Plan, directing the actions of Saurus warriors and Skink scouts with absolute authority. The Lizardmen possess a deep connection to the natural world, often utilizing massive beasts like Stegadons and Carnosaurs in warfare. In recent times, signs indicate that the Slann are waking from their slumber once more. They perceive the current age as one of critical danger, where Chaos threatens to consume everything they built. Their return is not driven by a desire for glory or territory, but by a grim necessity to prune the world and restore order according to the ancient design.

In Their Own Story

The jungle air hung heavy with humidity and the scent of rotting orchids. A Saurus warrior stood motionless before the obsidian gates of the temple, his scales reflecting the dim light filtering through the canopy. For centuries, only the wind had spoken here, but now a low hum vibrated through the stone floor beneath his feet. The Slann was waking. With a slow, deliberate motion, the warrior raised his spear, not in aggression, but in salute to the ancient power stirring within. The Great Plan resumed its course.

Reader's Guide

The Lizardmen are a reptilian race created long before humanity by the mysterious Old Ones. Their society is strictly hierarchical, led by the immortal Slann Mage-Priests who channel ancient magic to guide the Great Plan. Beneath them stand the Saurus warriors, disciplined soldiers clad in obsidian armor, while agile Skinks handle logistics and minor spellcasting. They view themselves as gardeners of the world, pruning chaos and guiding lesser races toward destiny. However, they see humanity as flawed, having corrupted the plan with their ambition and susceptibility to Chaos. For millennia, they have slept in hidden temples across Lustria and beyond, waiting for the proper time to awaken. Now, as the threat of Chaos grows, the Lizardmen are stirring from their slumber. They do not seek conquest for power's sake but rather to restore balance. Their armies march with terrifying precision, utilizing massive Stegadons and carnivorous beasts alongside disciplined infantry. Though isolationist by nature, they will strike decisively against any force that threatens the world order established by their creators.
